Grand Casino in Culver City – Food Porn Quicky

Grand Casino Cafe and Bakery in Culver CityLast weekend (before the one that just occurred), I headed down to Los Angeles. It was time to “get the hell out of dodge” as they say… at least for a few days.

On Friday, while all most my friends were working, my friend Mio took me out to lunch at the perfect time (after I got tired of working remotely in an empty house in sunny California). We headed downtown in Culver City to Grand Casino — an Argentine bakery and cafe.

I loved it. As we sat out on the patio and had a casual, catch-up meal together… it was probably the epitome of a typical, relaxed California “let’s-do-lunch” lunch.

We had sandwiches (con miga? I think they were called…)…

They were super simple sandwiches. Ham with veggies melded together within thin slices of bread and toasted warm.

Mio had cafe con leche with his meal…I started to think later that I should have mimicked his meal in entirety — coffee and all. It looked damn delicious.

And we also split a salad (tuna salad with potato salad, curly q’s of cucumber, avocado, beets and more)…

Sorry, we got hungry before I took a photo of the salad. Yum. I heard the table aside us ask about the salad. She got something similar — you know, cause she knew a good thing when she saw it.

I finished off with a slice of tres leches. They had alfajores, which I really wish I had tried, but tres leches sounded so good at the time. Sorry, downed it so quick, I don’t have a photo!
